AOL address book missing in AOL 9.1? AOL Address Book Disappearance. AOL autocomplete in the address box not working when composing emails. Why doesn't AOL auto-complete email address work?

If you are able to access your address book when logged on to AOL via web browser but not though AOL software the chances are there’s a problem with AOL installation.

Here’s what you can do to fix it:

1. Search your local hard drive for abi and aby files and remove them. Perform the following search: look for in all files and folders for the following string: screenname.ab*. Deleted all files rendered by this search. Restart AOL and check if you can access your AOL address book. If there are no entries there process to step 2.

2.  Launch AOL program and go to AOL® Keyword: Browser Fix. As soon as you hit enter the following message will appear confirming that tunneling has been turned on within the client. Click OK and restart AOL software, then restart your computer.

Please Note: If this does not correct the problem, please return to AOL Keyword: Browser Fix to turn tunneling off. A message with a "1" will appear, confirming that tunneling has been turned off.

Try logging on to AOL now. You should be able to see and access you address book. The auto complete function should be working as well.

Alternatively you can try running AOL Quick Restore

The Quick Restore feature allows you to reset the AOL software to a default state. It's faster than reinstalling the AOL software. Go to START button, select Programs or All Programs, select America Online, then click AOL System Information

• Click the OK button.

• On the AOL tab, click the QUICK RESTORE button.

• At the Warning, click the OK button.

• Click the CLOSE button.

• Restart the AOL software as you normally would and sign on again.

After running Quick Restore, the AOL software may be selected as your default Web application. Some Web applications and Auto-AOL sessions may need to be reset, but no files are actually deleted.
