Already have Cat5 cable installed and want to upgrade to higher speeds? No problem. Gigabit Ethernet network can be installed over existing copper wiring. It requires, at a minimum, Category 5 cable, but Category 5e (enhanced) and Category 6 cable are commonly recommended industry standard.
